Onetime Harrisburg Senator and longtime bat-for-hire Matt Stairs (Class of ’91), then playing with Pittsburgh, launches a pitch from Houston’s Wade Miller deep into the right-field seats 23 years ago today – a shot of 461 feet that is the longest in Minute Maid Park history.

Stairs’ eighth-inning homer is the Pirates’ only run in an 8-1 loss to the Astros.
