An Olympic moment

Matt LeCroy (33) with A.J. Hinch during the 1996 Olympics

Long before beginning his eight-year career in the major leagues and even longer before becoming the Harrisburg Senators’ manager in 2012-13 and again from 2016-19, Matt LeCroy is a catcher for the 1996 United States’ Olympic baseball team.

Twenty-nine years ago today, LeCroy is one of seven Americans to homer in a 15-5 victory over Japan in the Olympic Games before a crowd of 52,384 at Atlanta's old Fulton County Stadium.

Five of those homers come in the first inning. LeCroy's homer comes in the sixth for the final run in a game mercifully cut short after seven innings.
