Harrisburg-born heavyweight Freddie Beshore starts the New Year 75 years ago today by facing former champion Joe Louis in a scheduled 10-round bout at Olympia Stadium in Detroit.

Beshore, though, falls to Louis in a fourth-round knockout.

Beshore continues fighting for another three years before retiring with a career record of 35-17-2.
