Today marks the 37th anniversary of Pete Rose meeting with Commissioner Peter Ueberroth and Commissioner-elect Bart Giamatti to discuss Rose’s gambling problem.
The iconic-to-some, loathed-by-others Rose, then the Cincinnati Reds' manager, denies having any such problem – namely betting on baseball.
Evidence shows otherwise and Rose, the game’s all-time hits leader from his playing days, soon is banned from the game, a suspension that remains until after Rose’s death in 2025.
