Future Hall of Famer Oscar Charleston teams with Fats Jenkins, Rap Dixon and Rev Cannady for 13 hits as the all-Black Harrisburg Giants beat the all-White Harrisburg Senators 14-5 on a chilly Saturday afternoon 100 years ago today on City Island.
Not that the Senators have much of a chance, trailing 5-0 before even batting in the bottom of the first inning and falling behind 12-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth.
Fifty years later, Charleston joins the Hall of Fame’s Class of ’76.
