Changing places
After four seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Class AA Harrisburg Senators 35 years ago today begin searching for a new major league affiliate.
The Senators soon align themselves with the Montreal Expos, a move that sets up Harrisburg to become the minors’ most dominant team for the rest of the millennium with an Eastern League championship following in 1993 and then an EL-record four straight titles from 1996-99.
The connection continues today as the Senators remain with the Expos’ franchise after it moves to Washington, D.C. following the 2004 season.
