Class reunion

A reunion originally suggested in a text message becomes a reality three years ago today as members of the 1987 Class AA Eastern League champion Harrisburg Senators return to City Island.

The reunion starts earlier in the day with a little bit of golf and a lot of adult beverages at one of their old haunts before continuing during the current Senators’ night game against Richmond.

A who’s who in Senators’ history attend, including manager Dave Trembley; pitchers Jim Neidlinger, Larry Melton, Dave Rooker and Rob Russell; catchers Tom Prince and Kerry Baker; first baseman Lance Belen; and trainer Dave Douglas, as well as original general manager Rick Redd, assistant GM Todd Vander Woude, broadcasters Dan Kamal and Mark Mattern; and sales director Cindy Walrath Colley.

Just as he did for the Senators’ first game in 1987, Neidlinger throws out the ceremonial first pitch before their game a year ago tonight.
