Sixty years after five days after Lou Gehrig gives his iconic “Luckiest Man” speech on July 4, 1939, the uniform Gehrig wears that afternoon sells at an auction 27 years ago today for $451,541.

The purchaser is a man from south Florida whose name remains secret to the public.

Guess if you can afford to drop a half-mil on a 60-year-old flannel pinstripe uniform – do not forget to add on those auction fees and taxes – then you can afford to buy some anonymity.
