Jesse Orosco at 69
Happy 69th birthday today to longtime relief pitcher Jesse Orosco, photographed here in 1986 by the New York Times after recording the final out of the seventh and final game of the New York Mets’ World Series victory over the Boston Red Sox.
Orosco plays eight of his 24 seasons in the majors with the Mets, appearing in 372 games for them on his way to working in a record 1,272 games for a pitcher.
Orosco also is one of only 31 players to spend parts of four decades in the major leagues.
For Orosco, that’s from 1979-2003.
