In his first at-bat after becoming a grandfather, Stan Musial – two months shy of his 43rd birthday – homers to jump start the Cardinals’ 8-0 victory over the Chicago Cubs 63 years ago today in St. Louis.
The two-run homer in the first inning off Glenn Hobbie is the 474th of Musial’s Hall of Fame career.
His final homer comes six days later off the Dodgers’ Johnny Podres in the Cardinals' 3-1 loss, also in St. Louis.
