One last victory

The late, sometimes great Montreal Expos win for the final time 21 years ago today, topping the New York Mets 6-3 at Shea Stadium behind a three-run homer by Brad Wilkerson in the top of the ninth inning off relief pitcher Braden Looper.

Wilkerson’s game-winning drive also is the last homer hit by the Expos, who end their 36-year existence the next day with an 8-1 loss to the Mets.

Wilkerson and the Expos move after the 2004 season to Washington, D.C.
