One more deal for Vladimir Guerrero
Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero, arguably greatest prospect to summer on Harrisburg’s historic City Island, signs his final major league contract 15 years ago today with the Baltimore Orioles.
The contract is worth $7.6 million, bringing Guerrero’s career totals to $125.5 million.
Guerrero by then is a 36-year-old, full-time designated hitter and bats .290 in 145 games for the Orioles in 2011 with 13 homers and 63 runs batted in.
He finishes his 16-year career hitting .318 with 449 home runs and 1,496 runs batted in – all Hall of Fame-bound numbers to go along with his nine All-Star appearances, eight Silver Slugger awards and the American League MVP award he earns in 2004.
