Right-hander Troy Mattes comes within two outs of pitching the first no-hitter in the Harrisburg Senators’ modern era 26 years ago today before Altoona’s Alex Hernandez cleanly singles to left-center with one out in the top of the ninth inning on City Island.

The hit comes on Mattes’ 103rd and final pitch in a game the Senators eventually win 3-2 in 10 innings when a bases-loaded walk to Scott Zech forces home the winning run.
