The Harrisburg Alumni Association
Donnie Bridges
Donnie Bridges beats Erie 2-0 in the first game of a doubleheader 26 years ago today on Harrisburg’s City Island to become the first – and, so far, only – Senators pitcher in their modern era to throw four shutouts in one season.
Bridges goes 11-7 with a 2.39 earned-run average in only 19 starts for the Senators in 2000.
Alas, because of overuse that season – 30 starts and 210 innings between Class A Jupiter and AA Harrisburg – the 21-year-old Bridges never again is the same pitcher during a career that ends in 2007 with Alexandria in the obscure, independent United League.
