Road trip
Roger Bernadina
With the exception of center fielder Roger Bernadina, the 2007 Harrisburg Senators have no position player who evolves into a reliable major leaguer, but for a day they all have a chance to be treated like big leaguers with a side trip 18 years ago today to Boston's famed Fenway Park.
There, Harrisburg meets the Red Sox’s Class AA affiliate from Portland in between two other Eastern League games against the Sea Dogs in Maine.
The Senators win two of three games in the series and miss a chance for all three, thanks to the massive hairball their bullpen coughs up in a 12-11 loss to the Sea Dogs before an announced crowd of 34,746 at Fenway.
The bullpen fritters away leads of 8-3, 9-8 and 11-9 in the middle game of the series.
The game at Fenway is one of the few highlights in 2007 for the Senators, who at 55-86 finish with one of the worst records in franchise history.
