Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard becomes the fastest player in major league history to reach 100 career home runs as he hits a three-run shot to center field off Cincinnati’s Aaron Harang in the fifth inning of a 9-6 loss to the Reds 19 years ago today.
The milestone homer comes before a Wednesday night crowd of 31,803 in South Philly.
Howard hits his 100th homer in only his 325th career game.
Howard, beset with injuries later in his career, finishes his 13-year career in 2016, totaling 382 homers for the Phillies over 1,572 games.
