The Harrisburg Alumni Report

Reading Phillies right-hander Jason Grimsley no-hits the Harrisburg Senators 37 years ago today on City Island, beating Harrisburg 3-0 in the first game of a Class AA doubleheader.

The no-hitter is the first on City Island since pro baseball returns to Harrisburg in 1987 after a 35-year absence.

Grimsley finishes the 1989 season in the majors with Philadelphia, where he spends the first three seasons of a major league career that lasts until 2006.

Alas for Grimsley, none of those 72 starts ends in a no-hitter like the one he has 37 years ago today.
