There’s one in every crowd
Happy 80th birthday today to longtime major league first baseman Tommy Hutton, who is known for his defensive prowess during a 12-year career in the majors with Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Toronto and Montreal.
Hutton is a .242 hitter over 1,920 at-bats in the majors with only 22 home runs and 186 runs batted in.
Of course, there always seems to be one great pitcher who inexplicably struggles against that one particular hitter, even a glove-first, bat-second player like Tommy Hutton.
And just who does Hutton own during his career?
That would be Hall of Famer Tom Seaver, against whom Hutton is a .320 hitter with three homers, two doubles and 15 RBIs in 50 at-bats.
Go figure.
