Time flies in Baltimore

So, you think a lot of time passes between the last time the Baltimore Orioles win the World Series and today?

Well, yes, you would be right since nearly 43 years fly by since the Orioles beat the Philadelphia Phillies in the 1983 World Series. ‍

Now, just imagine how much time passes since for Cal Ripken Jr., then the Orioles’ everyday shortstop and 1983 American League Most Valuable Player who today is celebrating his 66th birthday‍.

After 1983, though, the Orioles and Ripken never return to the World Series with Ripken retiring after the 2001 season with 3,184 career hits, a record of playing in 2,632 straight games and a first-ballot Hall of Fame induction awaiting him in 2007.
