The aftermath to the Strangest Injury of 1999 takes place 27 years ago today as Houston Astros All-Star outfielder Moises Alou undergoes surgery on his left knee to repair the ligaments he damages after falling off a treadmill.

Seems Alou tumbles from the treadmill while he is trying to adjust its speed.

The 32-year-old Alou misses the entire 1999 season. Alou, though, comes back to play another nine seasons in the majors, finishing in 2008 with a .303 career batting average in 17 seasons, 332 home runs, 1,287 runs batted in and six National League All-Star selections.
