Washing away the season
After winning an Eastern League-best 80 games during the regular season, the Harrisburg Senators 14 years ago today are forced to open the 2011 Class AA playoffs on the road as flooding from Tropical Storm Lee – seen here by photographer Sean Simmers – leaves City Island unplayable.
The Senators start – and, alas, end – the playoffs at second-place Richmond, where they are swept in three games of the semifinals.
