Winning again … and again

Carlos Adolfo’s two-run double in the top of the 10th inning lifts the Harrisburg Senators over New Britain 6-4 and clinches the Senators' third straight Eastern League title 28 years ago today.

The latest championship matches the 1984-86 Vermont Reds as the only other team in the EL’s 101 seasons to three-peat.

Vermont’s share of the record disappears a year later when the Senators win their fourth straight title.

“When you taste this once, you want to taste it again and again,” says Rick Sweet, the Senators’ manager in 1998 and for part of 1999. “People who have never won, never know this feeling.”
