Shorty Miller
Harrisburg’s Shorty Miller becomes the first true freshman to start at quarterback in a season opener for Penn State 116 years ago today as he leads the Nittany Lions to a 58-0 victory over the Harrisburg Athletic Club at Beaver Field.
Miller holds that distinction at Penn State for 100 years until Rob Bolton starts the 2010 season opener and leads the Lions over Youngstown State 44-14.
Miller finishes his collegiate career with a record of 21-2-2, including an 8-0 record in 1912.
