Harrisburg manager Doug Sisson restrains Milton Bradley during melee
During a bench-clearing brawl against Altoona 27 years ago today on City Island, Harrisburg Senators center fielder Milton Bradley – the focal point of the melee – is ejected from the game and then spits his gum at umpire Tim Pasch.
Bradley receives a five-game suspension and a $500 fine from the Class AA Eastern League, as well as a two-game suspension from the Senators’ major league affiliate, the Montreal Expos.
Five months later, Bradley ends the Class AA Eastern League playoffs with a two-out, two-strike, bottom-of-the-ninth, straight-out-of-Hollywood grand slam that lifts the Senators over Norwich for Harrisburg’s EL-record fourth straight title.
