Outfielder Gene Moore, then with the old Boston Braves, becomes the first former Harrisburg Senators player selected to the major league all-star game, but does not play in the National League’s 8-3 loss to the American League 89 years ago today in the 1937 midsummer classic at Washington’s Griffith Stadium.
The 1937 All-Star Game selection is the only one in Moore’s 14-year career in the majors, a run that lasts through the 1945 season.
