Rueter’s road to the majors

Three months after starting the 1993 season with the Class AA Harrisburg Senators, pitcher Kirk Rueter makes his major league debut 33 years ago today in Montreal and works into the ninth inning before John Wetteland gets the final two outs in a 3-0 victory over San Francisco before a Wednesday night crowd of 13,593 at Olympic Stadium.

Rueter ends up pitching 13 seasons in the major leagues and wins 130 games for Montreal and San Francisco before retiring after the 2005 season.
