Moving on from D.C.
Onetime Harrisburg Senators infielder – and longtime City Island fan favorite – Jamey Carroll is sold 20 years ago today by the Washington Nationals to the Colorado Rockies for $300,000.
The move is not popular with the Nationals' fans, who have come to admire Carroll’s non-stop, dirt-moving style of play.
Colorado fans soon love Carroll, too, just as those in Cleveland, Los Angeles, Minnesota and Kansas City will do before Carroll retires following the 2013 season with exactly 1,000 career hits in the majors.
