Two years before joining the Harrisburg Senators in 2003, right-hander Blake Stein strikes out eight straight batters for Kansas City 25 years ago today in the Royals’ 9-2 loss to Milwaukee – joining Nolan Ryan, Ron Davis and Roger Clemens as the only American League pitchers to ever strike out eight batters in a row.
The record Stein shares eventually falls on Sept. 27, 2012, when Detroit’s Doug Fister strikes out nine straight Kansas City batters in the Tigers’ 5-4 victory over the Royals at Comerica Park.
