Four years after setting the Harrisburg Senators’ modern-era, single-season record for hits in 2003 with 180, outfielder Brandon Watson – then with the Columbus Clippers – extends his hitting streak to 43 games 19 years ago today, breaking the Class AAA International League record set in 1912 by Rochester’s Jack Lelivelt.
Watson's streak stops at 43 games just a few days before he is promoted to the majors.
He then picks up five hits in his first 18 at-bats for the 2007 Washington Nationals before eventually returning to the minors.
