Not quite done
The California Angels believe Tommy John finally is finished as a pitcher at age 42 and release him 40 years ago today.
John, however, does not believe he is finished and keeps pitching for another four years, picking up 31 more victories to give him 288 for his Hall of Fame-worthy career.
When he finally does retire, John goes into broadcasting and coaching, and spends the 2002 season as the Harrisburg Senators' pitching coach.
