Today’s Baby Boomer birthday
Happy 76th birthday today to longtime major leaguer Jerry Reuss, seen here pitching for the Los Angeles Dodgers and working in the ninth inning of his 1980 no-hitter in San Francisco.
Reuss is one of the few pitchers to work in the majors for all or parts of four decades, lasting from 1969-90.
He finishes with 22-year career with a record of 220-191 and a 3.64 earned-run average over 628 appearances.
Ten years after retiring from the game, Reuss returns to uniform in 2000 to become the pitching coach for the Class AA Harrisburg Senators.
