Remembering Jerry Mileur

Jerry Mileur, the college professor and minor league owner who brings pro baseball back to Harrisburg in 1987, passes away eight years ago today at the age of 83.

Mileur, a political science professor at the University of Massachusetts, relocates his Class AA team – the old Nashua Pirates – from New Hampshire to Harrisburg prior to the 1987 season.

He renames the team the “Senators” in tribute to Harrisburg’s past minor league teams and remains the franchise’s owner until 1995.

During his time in Harrisburg, the Senators win Eastern League titles in 1987 and 1993.
