Saving the day
Tom Buskey
Harrisburg-born Tom Buskey records the first of his 34 career saves in the major leagues 52 years ago today as he closes out the New York Yankees’ 10-9 victory over Oakland at Yankee Stadium.
Buskey enters the game after the normally reliable Sparky Lyle gives up back-to-back RBI singles to Reggie Jackson and Deron Johnson.
Buskey then retires Gene Tenace on a called third strike to end the game.
