The masked man
Well, someone has to be first and, in this case, that someone is Charlie O’Brien, who 29 years ago today becomes the first catcher to wear a hockey-style, cage mask for the Toronto Blue Jays in their 4-1 loss to the New York Yankees before a Friday night crowd of 31,227 at SkyDome.
